Now, we’re expanding our horizons into the world of craft spirits with Fallen Oak Distilling, a farm-based operation dedicated to producing premium spirits using grains grown on our own farm. With a commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation, we’re seeking a talented and experienced Master Distiller to lead our distillery operations and help us shape the future of craft spirits in our region.
Position Overview: We are seeking an Master Distiller to join our team. As the Master Distiller, you will oversee all aspects of spirits production, from raw material selection to final bottling, leveraging our farm’s resources and unique terroir to create exceptional spirits that embody the essence of our local community.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and execution of distillation processes, including mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, blending, and bottling.Source high-quality grains and other raw materials from our farm and establish relationships with local suppliers to support production needs.Manage all aspects of production, including equipment operation, maintenance, and safety protocols.Collaborate with the brewing team to explore opportunities for cross-fermentation and barrel aging, leveraging our shared resources and expertise.Conduct ongoing research and development to innovate and expand our portfolio of craft spirits, while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to the distillery team to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in distillation, with a proven track record of success in a leadership role.Expertise in all aspects of distillation, including mashing, fermentation, distillation techniques, aging, and blending.Strong sensory evaluation skills with the ability to discern and articulate flavor characteristics.Proficiency in troubleshooting and problem-solving to address technical challenges in production.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including team management, coaching, and development.
