  • Where can you find liquor stores in Washington, D.C.?

Heading up to Washington DC next week for a mini vacation. Looking for an excellent liquor store, particularly for Amaro’s, Genever, Armagnac, and other oddities.

    Any suggestions?

The wife and I will be visiting either Copper Fox or Catoctin Creek, can’t decide which and I know she can only handle one distillery tour…

Where are you staying in DC? Schneiders in Capitol Hill is good (for a small store). If you are in DC proper, you should stop by our place and New Columbia Distillers (Green Hat gin). Copper Fox and Catoctin Creek are a good drive out of town.

Chevy Chase Wine and Spirits is also good – in my experience, they’re more likely to have decent Armagnac and Calvados. And by decent, I mean they may have two selections, whereas you’d be hard-pressed to find any at all elsewhere. And I’d recommend Copper Fox – they’re malting their own grains down there, which is badass.
