I can’t comment on the functionality of it Canuck other than it uses a SSR so presumably it is a Time proportional Power controller similar to the Aurber ones . …. But then again , it may be a home made PID controller with a very ling time period making it totally unsuitable for anything other than mashing .However , it is a total nightmere when it comes to electrical safety . It is basically all constructed with push-on “bread-boarding” connectors which I would never trust to stay connected in a pink fit . Also those leads have really thin insulation totally unsuitable to be in a mains cable environment . They are all wrapped and intertwined around each other .It’s the worst birds nest I’ve seen for a while .Guys that create projects like this often are great coders and can integrate modules to do amazing things but have zero training or thought to practical construction and safety .Of most concern , I see no earth/ground cabling. While it might be a well functioning project , I’d bin it unless you are able to totally rebuild it in a safe and secure manner with all cabling and components soldered together and the cables neatly bundled and segregated from the mains wiring . Like what the fuck is this ? An Integrated circuit with a couple of wires hanging on it floating around in the case waiting to fling around and touch something it shouldn’t . It should be soldered to a piece of circuit board (Vero-board is great ) and screwed to the case so it is secure

I agree the workmanship/safety is “suspect” to use a nice word. I am hoping to rebuild it but really need a plan so was hoping someone would recognize it and point me in the right direction.

It does look like a very capable Mashing controller .It doesn’t have any power controller ability . I couldn’t see any specific wiring diagrams for it …. but I may not have been looking hard enough . A quick and easy way to save it might be to keep the SSR and scrap the rest and replace it with an Auber DSPR1 if you simply want a Power controller , or DSPR400 or similar if you also want all the mashing features .My recommended goto .wiki/index.ph … ion_Theory

I’m no lectricity geek but my first thought was ” f#*k what a birds nest. It’s a prize winner in that category for sure For free it’s still a bargain if you can reconfigure it to a safe standard.

Looks like it Yummy. What confuses me is it appears the original heat sink isn’t being used. There’s nothing connected to it. Only some zip ties holding heat sink to the box?The SSR and heatsink being used is sealed inside the box without a cooling fan. My 2 cents worth.Start by disassembling almost everything and turn it into a pile of useable parts. Then build what’s needed. Trying to reverse engineer what’s already been done looks difficult, even for my cluttered mind.

That SSR looks like it’s been cooked. I don’t believe I would plug that thing in. I’ve built several controllers with Auber components that I would recommend highly. Any of their products in the DSPR series are good for our hobby.

Ok, so it’s all agreed that it’s a mickey mouse piece of crap. Can someone point me to some good plans for a 240v controller using these parts?
