    Head of Production – Distillery

     

    Position Overview:

    Blue Rascal Distillery is seeking a Head of Production to lead our distilling and distillery production operations. The ideal candidate:

    Experience working in distilling operations for a minimum of 2 years

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Interested in building on your skills and knowledge to grow with us

    Be collaborative, creative, and able to partner with our tasting room staff to create a great experience for customers, including leading distillery tours

    Develop and implement innovative production techniques and recipes, with a focus on creativity and excellence.

     

    About Blue Rascal

    Blue Rascal Distillery is a craft distillery located in the heart of blueberry country in Hammonton NJ. Open since March 2021, Blue Rascal specializes in blueberry brandy (eau de vie) and speciality liqueurs and spirits. We bring the vibrant flavors of the fruits grown in the local area to your glass. 

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage the production schedule to meet demand while maintaining product quality and consistency.

    Maintain and operate our CARL still and other distillation equipment.

    Distilling operations including distilling, blending, proofing, cask filling and handling

    Bottling operations including rinsing, filling, corking, labeling, packing, and all other assembly needs

    Storage operations including cask movement, packaging, and inventory management

    Maintain meticulous records for all processes, operations, and compliance purposes using distilling software

    Submitting monthly federal, bi-monthly state, and quarterly excise beverage tax documentation

    Maintain high standards of quality for production of spirits, liqueurs, casks, and finished goods, including performing routine and ad-hoc quality checks

    Contribute to process improvement ideas & implementation

    Cleaning of all distillery, bottling, production, and common areas – we take our food beverage production facility cleanliness seriously!

    Manage inventory and sourcing of raw materials and supplies.

    Maintaining the highest degree of safety with responsibility for yourself and fellow team members

    Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.

    Regular and predictable attendance 

     

    Qualifications

    Demonstrated experience as a distiller, with references 

    Applicant must be dependable, reliable, professional, and comfortable working in various indoor and outdoor conditions

    Beverage alcohol (beer / wine / spirits) industry operations experience. 

    Strong problem-solving and equipment troubleshooting skills

    Prior experience in production or manufacturing operations, and the use of both general and process-specific brewing or distilling tools and equipment

    Self-motivated and operates with a sense of urgency!

    Great ability to communicate and work well in a team-based highly collaborative environment. Communication is a core competency of this role!

    Attention to detail and accuracy, precision, and timeliness, particularly related to production documentation and required distillation paperwork

    Open-minded and positive thinker that supports our continuous improvement culture.

    A high school diploma or experience in food beverage manufacturing, processing, and packaging.

    This role requires the ability to lift 50 lb., standing for extended periods of time, work from heights and in confined spaces, with variable temperatures

     

    Preferred Qualifications

    Forklift truck operation
