Let’s Discuss Rum and Stills for Making Rum
G’day,
My main focus will be making a good rum, I like to drink rum and so want to make a nice rum
So since putting my still together, a 50mm modular CCVM, 1.0mt column, I have done a couple of molasses/sugar washes in Pot mode
I currently have a 40lt all molasses wash fermenting to run and will ferment a few more generations to build my low wines quantity before doing a spirit run.
I understand rum needs time on oak to age and mature so I won’t be drinking any of it too soon.
I am in NO rush to update my stillHaving said that, I really want to be able to make the best product I can, so my question is what type of still would be best,
I probably don’t want to go over 100mm/4", balance of cost over output,
Should I be researching Pot with a thumper, Plated Still ??All help would be greatly appreciated
