Position Overview: As a Distiller at Cayman Spirits Company, you will play a pivotal role in the production process, overseeing the transformation of raw ingredients into high-quality rum. You will work closely with our team to ensure the consistency, purity, and flavor profile of our spirits, while adhering to strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Production Management: Manage all aspects of rum production, including milling, fermentation, distillation, and aging processes.
Recipe Development: Collaborate with the Master Distiller to develop and refine rum recipes, experimenting with different ingredients and techniques to create unique flavors and profiles.
Operational Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and operation of distillation equipment, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency while adhering to safety protocols.
Quality Control: Monitor each stage of the distillation process to maintain product quality and consistency, conducting regular tasting sessions and sensory evaluations.
Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of raw materials, including sugar cane, yeast, and barrels, ensuring an uninterrupted supply chain for production.
Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with local and international regulations governing rum production, including record-keeping, reporting, and safety protocols.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the production team, including cellar masters, bottlers, and quality control specialists, to achieve production goals and maintain a cohesive working environment.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains, implementing best practices to enhance productivity and quality standards.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a distillation or brewing environment, with a strong understanding of fermentation and distillation processes.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Brewing, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications in distillation or spirits production are a plus.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating and maintaining distillation equipment, with a thorough understanding of the chemistry and principles behind the distillation process.
Creativity: A passion for innovation and a keen palate for flavor profiles, with the ability to contribute to recipe development and experimentation.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality control, with the ability to conduct sensory evaluations and maintain consistency in product standards.
Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team and communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and production demands.
Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting and moving heavy equipment and materials, and comfortable working in a production environment that may involve exposure to heat, steam, and other hazards.
