Is there any reason why this molasses might not be effective?
Posted by SightsSet on June 22, 2024 at 1:29 pmhttps://www.sustainhydro.com/online-sto … p160109043It’s SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than the blackstrap I’ve been using, which makes me suspicious. Anyone know if there’s any reason it wouldn’t work for a rum?

What’s the sugar net ? Some pictures are not worth a thousand words.Si vis pacem, para bellum

Give it a try and seeI drink so much now,on the back of my license it’s a list of organs I need.

I would want to know the sugar content before using that. Blackstrap Molly is proven and with all its nutrients, much less expensive here i the USA.

No, but ~$100/5 gallons isn’t too bad, at least compared to what I see on Amazon right now. I didn’t look at shipping, though.$500 for 50 gallons is a deal, but that’s a LOT of rum!Learn from the past, live in the present, change the future.

The good stuff is $39 for 5 gals and shipping is about $35https://www.webstaurantstore.com/golden … KSTPP.htmlThere are two types of people in this world.1. Those that can extrapolate from incomplete information.

Still damned expensive by our standards, 44imp gal here is around $150 au at the moment…..further north it’s cheaper

Grain is much cheaper than molasses. I’ve had a few friends tell me to give rum a go, and I tell them all the same thing, find me a source for backstrap as cheap as grain, and I’ll do it.Fear and ridicule are the tactics of weak-minded cowards and tyrants who have no other leadership talent from which to draw in order to persuade.

If it is just plain old Blackstrap Molasses, it should work fine . Problems start when farm supply places “value add” it by adding extra protein and vege oil and stuff in an attempt to make it “more nutritious” as a feed stock Molasses….. effectively diluting the good stuff with rubbish we don’t need . This causes low alcohol yield due to the reduced amount of fermentable sugars .Also significant foaming and puking from proteins and oils .The link didn’t have much detail at all . I’d be asking them for a brake down of whats in it . Even a closeup pic of the label might give some clues .I’d be tempted to buy a few gallons of it and make up a Saltbushbills All Molasses wash .( Don’t add sugar as it will skew the results) Once stripped , the quality of available sugar can be compared to what Salty or others get , IE , litres of stripped wash from litres of molassesMy recommended goto .wiki/index.ph … ion_Theory

Thanks Sightsets Alas no further clues from the label . I did squint at the web address on the label and found the suppliers product details from the site but it is basically just a heavy metals analysis with still no mention of Sugars ….. which is fair enough , they are selling it as a fertiliser .https://www.aapfco.com/metals.htmlhttps://apps1.cdfa.ca.gov/fertilizerproducts/So it still could be simply good old Blackstrap which you add a few table spoons to a gallon of water and feed it to your plants , or it could be like Chris suggested , something like Dunder which incidentally Bundaburg Rum distillery sends their Dunder back out to the cane fields to fertilise the fields .Not sure why link won’t work , but this is screenshot
