  • Are Ropp and Kerr type caps interchangeable on the same bottle?

Posted by kuraokami on April 18, 2024 at 2:06 pm

Have a bunch of Kerr type (28-350) bottles. Wondering if there are any Ropp machines that can possibly work on them as we are looking to make the packaging a little nicer with a different cap.

    Thanks!

No, they won’t work.  Beyond the finish on the bottle, you’ll notice the neck shape on ROPP bottles.  There is generally a slight taper required.

Have you considered an over-cap?  You can make a really beautiful closure this way.  Custom wood or metal.

    Hi Kuraokami,

JJG is correct – the ROPP and the KERR are definitely different and typically not interchangeable. We provide both KERR and ROPP type cappers to many of the members here at ADI and we work directly with the manufacturers to try to solve ‘creative’ problems like this. If you’d like to reach out, maybe we could come up with a solution for you?      steve@crusystems.com  -or-   crusystems.com

    Thank you!
