    Alcohol-Free Gin

Posted by canuckwoods on December 23, 2022 at 11:00 am

I have been asked to make a Non-alcohol gin. Is it possible just to use my normal botanicals in just water? I would assume that the Alcohol helps to release some of the oils and flavourings. What changes do you suggest to my normal process? Thanks all

If this is to make non-alcoholic gin&tonic’s, I would look into home made tonic water instead. It’s pretty much the same botanical’s involved.

I tried using my normal amount of botanicals and got a disappointing amount of flavor.

A non-alcoholic gin is advertised on TV… I was wondering how it’s made, just curious. It would be interesting to know the exact process.

Chris, would you think doubling the botanicals would do it?

No, it would have to be more.I would suggest making a gin tea in a coffee press and if they don’t like it hot, chill it. If they don’t like the color, tough.

Just thinking out loudTake a large dose of the botanicals, soak for a week, put into still, run it.Surely some flavour would come over with the distilled water? My fekking eyes are bleeding! Installed BS Filters – better! :DLife has gotten interesting!

Here’s a recipe. No idea how it will come out, but can be a start. https://cocktail-society.com/spirits/non-alcoholic-gin/A lot of what I read that isn’t that recipe says commercial versions “distill out the alcohol”.I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me. That’s it. No more reading!

I think you could put botanicals in hot water (like herbal tea) then distill if needed.

Well after a lot of research I don’t think I can get the results I would like, it sounds like the alcohol bit is a big part of the taste/feel/experience. But if any of you would like to pursue it please keep us informed.
